Description
Sports massage is a type of therapeutic massage, which aims to strengthen the body’s regenerative powers and restore the body’s functional integrity, as well as to increase the body’s capacity to work in order to reduce general fatigue. Sports massage is a complex of specialised movements which increase the athlete’s work capacity, prepare the athlete for sustained active muscular work and accelerate the recovery process.
Sports massage is an effective method of both preparing for competition (instead of training) and managing fatigue. Particular attention is paid to a specific group of muscles (and their attachment points) that can withstand the maximum load in a given sport. Used to achieve and maintain athletic fitness more quickly.
Sports massage is more vigorous than classical massage and is designed for people who practise sport with the aim of improving the blood supply to the muscles, the elasticity of the connective tissue, preventing injuries and helping to repair those that have already occurred. A restorative massage is indicated after heavy physical and mental exertion.
It is recommended for post-traumatic treatment, muscle aches and spasms and joint pain.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in cases of inflammatory processes, various internal and cardiac diseases, tumours, varicose veins and pregnancy.
